Learn to scan the most frequently requested nerves in the ultrasound lab, how to diagnose common pathological findings and put your findings in context with the clinical picture and electrodiagnostic findings.

Learning objectives: After completion of the course you will be able to:

  • recognise the anatomy of the presented nerves (median, ulnar, radial, peroneal, tibial,
    sural nerve)
  • establish or
    exclude diagnosis of nerve damage of one of the presented nerves based on
    clinical symptoms and examination
  • interpret changes
    in electrodiagnostic examinations of the presented nerves and know about
    reliablitity of electrodiagnostic examinations of them
  • examine presented
    nerves with ultrasound along their whole visible course
  • differentiate
    normal from pathological ultrasound findings
  • recognize the most
    frequent pathological findings in context with clinical picture:

compression syndromes, nerve trauma, schwannoma/neurinoma,
tenosynovitis, inflammatory neuropathy, muscular variants of the forearm
