The painful ankle after surgery….

 

 

 

A 66-year old woman is referred to your office. Her story is the following:

Half a year ago she underwent surgery of the right lower leg because of varicosities. After the compression bandage was removed, she noticed numbness on the lateral edge of her foot and a wrenching pain in the lateral ankle.

The colleague doing nerve conduction studies let´s you know that she could not record a sensory nerve action potential of the right sural nerve.
